Well-behaved pets are welcome at Roamstead. We just ask that you include your pets on your reservation, as some of our guest facilities are pet-free to accommodate guests with allergies. We want to make sure you’re in the right room! There is a pet fee of $10 per night, per pet for our cabins and yurts. Max of 2 pets per cabin, yurt, and tent site, and 3 pets on RV sites. Pets must be leashed at all times, and owners must clean up after potty breaks, disposing properly of the bags.
Unfortunately, we don't have fully accessible accommodations at this time. The bathrooms in our cabins are too small for wheelchairs, and our pathways are gravel. However, we do have accessible bathrooms in our communal bathhouse, and we hope to add fully accessible accommodations in the future!
You’ll never be bored on this side of the Smokies! We’re a short drive to all the popular hikes in the National Park, like Clingman’s Dome, and Abrams Falls. But if crowds aren’t your thing, we can also point you to some amazing lesser-known trails within minutes of the campground. Aside from hiking, there’s fly fishing, ziplining, white water rafting, tubing, mountain biking, and swimming, all within an hour drive of Roamstead. Of course, we’re close to all those popular attractions like Dollywood, downtown Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge if you’re looking for some excitement. Or, you can stay on the quiet side with a relaxing day at the pool and a stroll through the shops in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains Arts & Crafts Community.
You can walk to the park from the property! Maddron Bald trailhead is directly behind the park. Roamstead is 30 minutes from the Sugarlands Visitor Center, which is the main entrance to the park. However, the Greenbrier entrance (15 minutes) and Cosby entrance (10 minutes) are close and offer many opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and rock hopping.
Check in is 2PM for RV and tent sites, 4PM for cabins, yurts, and lodge rooms. If you arrive early, we are happy to see if your room is ready; however, we can’t guarantee that an early check-in will be available.

There are designated guest parking areas throughout the property that are a short walk to your accommodation. If you have a difficult time walking, we can assist you to your room in a golf cart. Or, call us at booking, and we will do our best to place you in a room closest to the designated parking area.
The full amount of your stay will be collected to hold your reservation. You may cancel for a 95% refund or modify your dates for no charge up to 10 days ahead of your stay.
Within 10 days of your stay, no refunds or modifications will be made. Camping is a great outdoor experience; therefore, we do not give refunds due to inclement weather, unless management deems weather conditions to be dangerous due to flooding, snow, or ice. No refunds will be made for failure to check in, delayed arrival, early departure, changes in work schedule, or illness.

Absolutely! Nature is the best playground. We offer a number of amenities for our youngest guests, including the pool, a playground, yard games, and our Roamstead Ranger Activity Book. We find that kids have the best time playing together and making new friends! We just ask that parents accompany kids while on the property, and that kids are respectful of the property and other guests.
Yes! Roamstead provides all bedding and towels for our guests in cabins, yurts, and lodge rooms. We also provide pool towels to all guests.
